Text Messaging
Overview

Incidents of bullying, drug use, fights and other threatening behavior can occur anywhere at any time.  We built AnComm’s ‘Talk About It®’ to be accessible from anywhere regardless of whether students or faculty have access to the Internet. Cell phones are playing an increasingly important role in emergency situations and school tragedies. In many cases, access to information via a student’s cell phone has saved lives.  We’ve recently added support for text messaging so that anywhere a student goes, they’ll have real-time access to report incidents anonymously or receive inbound emergency notification, i.e. Global Alerts sent via the ‘Talk About It®’ service.

Send An Anonymous Report From the Back of the Bus or at the Football Game
Threatening behavior happens just as frequently off campus as on.  Whether it occurs on the back of a bus, the playground or even in an internet chat room, students don’t have to wait until they get home to reach out for help by submitting an incident via their personalized school web site. Using a cell phone, they can access our service and compose a message to school administrators and counselors immediately.

Receive Global Alert Emergency Messages Anywhere You Are
A tornado or similar inclement weather event is rapidly approaching your school 15 minutes before the first class of the school day.  How in the world do you alert your students so that they can avoid the situation or take precautions to ensure their safety?  The answer is that you can’t ― unless you have access to ‘Talk About It®’ where you can send emergency notifications to all of your students, faculty and parents and guardians via our Global Alert emergency notification service.  With a few simple clicks, you may have just saved countless lives.

Reach Students In the Most Familiar Form
For the i-generation, technology is an integral part of everyday life.  If we are to reach today’s students, schools administrators have to use new forms of communication to get their message to their target audience.  With ‘Talk About It,’ messages sent via the service are not only sent in standard e-mail form, but also via text standards so that students get the message in a familiar, comfortable form ― via a text cell phone message.
