Starkville School District Seeks to Breakthrough Teen 'Code of Silence'
Mississippi District Selects 'Talk About It&trade' anonymous online and text based reporting Service to Serve As Early Warning System

OXFORD, MS — September 20, 2007 — AnComm, the nation's first and only anonymous online and text based reporting and emergency notification service provider for schools, today announced that Starkville School District in Starkville, Mississippi has selected AnComm's ‘Talk About It®’ anonymous online and text based reporting and emergency notification service to dramatically improve the flow and frequency of communications between faculty and students.

The new anonymous online and text based reporting service reflects Starkville School District's ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable learning environment for the system's 4,000 students. ‘Talk About It®’ will be made available for the entire 2007-2008 school year to students enrolled at Starkville High School, Armstrong Middle School and Henderson Intermediate School. Funding for AnComm's ‘Talk About It®’ is for provided for under Title IV, the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act which provides financial assistance for state and local drug and violence prevention activities in elementary, secondary schools and institutions of higher education.

"Starkville School District knows the value of communication in building strong relationships with students," said Dr. Phil Burchfield, Superintendent of Starkville School District. "AnComm provides that opportunity through a common medium (the internet) to break the "code of silence" and provide our faculty and students yet another way to create a strong healthy, interactive learning environment."

"Security cameras and metal detectors do not foster a more comfortable learning environment. In order to make our schools safer, we must break down the barriers of communication between faculty and students." said Carter Myers, President of AnComm. "With the ‘Talk About It®’ anonymous online and text based reporting service, troubled students can come forward and begin a dialogue anonymously without fear of reprisal or embarrassment to seek help and resolution to their problems."

Currently in use by more than 100 school systems across the country, AnComm's ‘Talk About It®’ anonymous online and text based reporting service gives students a web-based portal to reach out and communicate various issues - breaking the 'code of silence' through anonymous communication. For elementary, secondary schools and institutions of higher education, administrators are empowered with information so that they may take proactive steps to communicate, intervene and resolve school violence before it occurs.

Through their school's personalized ‘Talk About It®’ online reporting center, students can log in - with their own confidential access code - and select a topic from a pull-down menu to send an anonymous online message to a designated faculty member anytime from any web-connected computer, PDA, wireless device or cell-phone. Once the message is sent, the faculty member receives a real-time notification prompting them to log into ‘Talk About It®’ and retrieve the student's message and provide immediate help, guidance and counseling to the student. Because the online messages sent through AnComm's ‘Talk About It®’ service are sent anonymously, students feel more comfortable communicating with school administrators, counselors and faculty about problems and issues without fear of retribution or embarrassment.
